To put it mildly, 2020 has been a year like no other! The many challenges and setbacks spared no one, and our feet are no exception. Before the pandemic hit, many of us were accustomed to wearing shoes or boots throughout our busy work days. Yet with the advent of widespread working from home, our habits were completely upended and we found ourselves walking barefoot on tile and hardwood all day long. It’s no wonder that under this new and unrelenting strain, one might have been feeling pain or discomfort for the first time in their joints. Here are 3 important tips to help your feet and lower extremities:
- When you’re home, make sure to wear indoor shoes or slippers with a well-fitted rigid sole. This will give much needed support to your arches and protect the structural integrity of your feet over time.
- Make sure to apply moisturizing cream to your feet on a daily basis. Walking barefoot at home can lead to chronically dry skin and in more severe cases to the formation of painful cracks in your heels; and
- Buy good quality walking or hiking footwear.
It’s important to give your feet the support they need!
If despite these helpful tips and tricks you find that pain and discomfort persist, keep in mind that the Pied Outaouais Clinic is there for you. We will cover the full range of our podiatric services in our Business Profile, which will be featured in an upcoming edition soon. But until then, please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
